In 1935, a letter toNaturecriticizing the logic of statistical tests provoked published responses from Karl Pearson and R. A. Fisher. Their letters illustrate the attitudes of the two men toward the hypothesis-testing problem soon after the Neyman-Pearson formulation and shortly before Karl Pearson's death.
