摘要:

Four of Maxwell's letters which were written to William Thomson, and are currently held by Glasgow University Library, are reproduced and discussed. Some of the material relates to control, and leads to possible explanations of certain points which were treated enigmatically in Maxwell's 1868 paper on governors.
