SUMMARYThe successful crossing of a group ofTrichophyton quinckeanumcultures with tester strains ofArthroderma benhamiae, the perfect state ofT. mentagrophytes, demonstrated that this organism is not a valid species.T. quinckeanumthus is considered to be a rejected synonym ofT. mentagrophytes.
