AbstractReport of the workshop sponsored by the C~mmittee on Scholarly Communication with the People's Republic of China in Washington DC on February 20 and 21,1975. Dwight Perkins, Professor of Economics and Associate Director for China of the East Asian Research Center at Harvard, was chairman, and members of the CSCPRC Plant Studies Delegation and of the Water Resources Delegation (led by Dr Maurice Albertson of Colorado State University), China scholars and other interested parties attended.Major topics discussed included the current level of agricultural production and the potential for major breakthroughs in productivity through water management, fertilizer application, mechanization, and the development of new seed strains, and the current state of research and education in agriculture and engineering. Through these discussions, particular areas and topics for future exchanges were identified.
