In 1968 the authors of this article discussed inBee World“The feasibility of introducing squash bees(PeponapisandXenoglossa)into the Old World”. The significance of the suggested introduction is the efficiency of squash bees as pollinators of cucurbit crops. The present article brings the story up to date, describing experimental transport of pre-nesting females within California, and from California to Hawaii.
