AbstractUnlike Great Britain and Western Europe, most Commonwealth countries have legislation in the form of a Land Survey Act or Ordinance which not only controls the licensing, registration and duties of surveyors but also prescribes regulations controlling the method of executing surveys and the degrees of accuracy which must be attained. This legislation generally applies chiefly to cadastral surveys but does cover in many cases the conduct and control of trigonometrical, topographical and geodetic surveys.
