AbstractA screen is described that avoids direct observation of the sun. Sights may be taken to the centre of the sun. Times are taken using a Hewlett-Packard HP45 calculator as a recording stopwatch. The rate of change of altitude is measured as well as the altitude. Latitude, longitude and azimuth are then calculated. The sun does not need to be on the prime vertical.
