Much has been written about how the management of information technology must change so that the enterprise can gain (or maintain) a competitive edge. To accomplish this, the way information technology is financially justified must also change. This article addresses the problem of how to measure and justify the necessary investments in information technology using enterprisewide information economics (EωIE), which provides a taxonomy and an action plan for financial justification of information technology.
