摘要:
The major energy supply of animal cells is generated in the inner mitochondrial membrane, the oxidizing enzymes of which are assembled asymmetrically in a way that gives rise to a vectorial movement of protons. Recent studies support the view that this proton current is the driving force in the production of biologically useful energy. The findings may have a bearing on clinical problems such as obesity and cancer.
