The authors emphasize that carcinoma of the oral area should lend itself to early diagnosis and thus early treatment. The results belie these assumptions. The attitude of both doctors and laymen is too gloomy with regard to radical treatment in the surgical attack. Results are much better in private patients who as a rule seek earlier treatment.
