AbstractTri‐, tetra‐ and pentaethyleneglycol monochlorides were prepared from ethylene oxide and ethylene chlorohydrin in the presence of sulfuric acid. Decyl, dodecyl and tetradecyl alcohols and nonylphenol reacted with the monochlorides prepared above to produce monoethers which were then condensed with the monoethers again to give the corresponding alkyl and nonylphenyl monoethers of hexa‐ to nonaethyleneglycol.
