Nine cases of fatal poisoning, where dextropropoxyphene was the sole or contributory cause of death, have been subjected to forensic‐chemical examination. The patients consisted of four youth addicts, two debilitated women who died after taking a combination of drugs, and three cases of suicide. The extraction method, thin‐layer chromatography, and gas chromatography for the determination of dextropropoxyphene have been described.
