摘要:

AbstractReaction of glucal1with alkoxybenzene leads after hydrogenation and deacetylation to β‐C glycosides4, which can be used as chiral compounds in the synthesis of chiral calamitic liquid crystals. The combination with aliphatic aldehydes leads to liquid crystals5showing a monotropic SAphase, with aromaticp‐alkoxy‐substituted aldehydes to compounds6with enantiotropic cholesteric and SAphases. Reaction withp‐alkoxy‐substituted phenylboronic acids gives liquid crystals7forming SAand ferroelectric SC* phases. They all exhibit a high twisting power and blue phases in contact p
