In 1957 R. C. Tomlinson [1] introduced a sequential test of a parameter of location that was both simple and efficient. The purpose of this paper is to further examine Tomlinson's plan and to discuss a few other related sequential plans which are also simple and effective. Some new plans are described which are alternatives to existing plans. These plans have some intrinsic interest, and will have their unique uses. Suggestions are made to provide the reader with a basis for an intelligent choice.
