摘要:
Eighty-seven fish from Lake Texoma, Oklahoma-Texas, representing three trophic levels and three locations were analyzed for arsenic, and the relationship of arsenic content to trophic level, sample location, and body length was determined. Arsenic concentrations in 17 sediment samples were compared to body burdens of bottom-feeding fish. The relationship of arsenic in sediment to sample location was examined. All fish contained arsenic in amounts of 0.1 to 34.0 ug/g, wet weight; the highest concentrations were in planktivores. Concentrations were significantly greater (P=0.05) in planktivores than omnivores, but did not vary significantly (P=0.05) between piscivores and either planktivores or omnivores. No correlation (P=0.05) existed for arsenic burdens and body length, weight, or sample location. Arsenic in sediments ranged from 47 to 209 ug/g, dry weight. No significant difference (P=0.05) was noted between arsenic in sediments and sample location. Results indicate omnivorous and piscivorous fish accumulate arsenic from their diet, but bioconcentration of arsenic may be occurring in planktivorous species. All sediment samples and the majority of fish analyzed exceeded Oklahoma criteria.
