The Workshop on the Use of Neutrons and X-rays in the Study of Magnetism was sponsored by the Institute Laue-Langevin and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility and held at the ILL, Grenoble, from January 21–23, 1993. It was attended by 120 scientists (in fact it was oversubscribed and because of the limited seating available in the ILL Amphitheater the Organizers had, regrettably, tolimit attendance) and provided an opportunity to review this field since the last similar meeting at Argonne in 1987. In the busy two and a half days, we had a clear introductory survey by Christian Vettier (ESRF), 21 invited talks, an elegant summary by Alan Mackintosh (Copenhagen), a poster session with nearly 60 contributions, a tour of the ESRF, two big lunches and a French Banquet!
