This fourth species has been found breeding in sympatry withcoronoidesin southern New South Wales. Examination of the type specimens of the Mathewsian subspeciesperplexus, halmaturinus, andmelloritogether with Stresemann'sC. difficilis, clearly showed thatmelloriwas the name by which this fourth species ofCorvusmust be known—Corvus melloriMathews. A newly-collected, adult female specimen has been designated the allotype.
