Several categories of angina can be easily recognized from their presenting features. The types differ not only in pathogenesis but also (of particular importance to clinicians) in prognosis and therapeutic requirements. Even the most worrisome group of patients—those with rapidly worsening unstable angina—can usually be stabilized in the hospital with appropriate drugs.
