摘要:
ABSTRACTA detailed description is provided of the coelomycetous fungus causing dogwood anthracnose onCornus florida, C. kousaandC. nuttalliiin North America. Conidiomata are acervular and subcuticular on leaves and twigs. Conidiophores are integrated and branched with elongated cylindrical acuminate phialides. Conidia are ellipsoid, nonseptate, hyaline and guttulate. Characteristics of the fungus in pure culture and on artificially inoculated leaf discs are also presented. Isolates from the three hosts in eastern and western North America are considered conspecific. The fungus, previously known asDisculasp., is described as a new species ofDiscula, Discula destructiva. Its relationship to other fungi onCornusspp. and its possible origin are discussed.
