摘要:
The red deer,Cervus elaphus elaphusLinnaeus, has probably been extinct on the Isle of Öland in the Baltic since about 1800, and very few subfossil remains have been found. The antlers described here were found under unknown circumstances in the fen complex of Skede Mose, parish of Köping. A small sample of detritus substance from the cranium has been used for a cautious dating by means of pollen analysis; the sample agrees with the pollen spectrum found in the middle of zone VII according to Jessen and Fries or slightly before,i. e.ca. 6 200 years before present (Atlantic, Litorina, and Ertebolle Time according to different scales).
