The “Longitudinal Study of Nurse Practitioners,” conducted by Dr. Henry Sultz of the State University of New York at Buffalo and funded by DHEW Division of Nursing, has now been completed. This study represents an extensive effort to assess the national experience of nurse practitioners' education and practice. The results were presented at a national conference in Buffalo, N.Y., in September, 1977. Approximately 70 participants, representing nurse practitioner programs across the country, listened to the presentations. Following is a brief synopsis of a portion of the information presented. The reader wishing to become more knowledgeable about this study may request the monographs available and read the articles which, most certainly, will be written in the future by those intimately involved in the project.
