摘要:
SummarySince the classic case described by Hutchinson in 1889, there have been numerous reports in the literature of giant-cell arteritis whose rheumatic effects resemble those of rhizomelic pseudo-polyarthritis or Forestier’s disease (usually called polymyalgia rheumatica in Anglo-Saxon literature). The authors present a series of 7 elderly patients of whom 4 were afflicted with giant-cell arteritis and 3 with Forestier’s disease. All these subjects showed fairly similar clinical and biological signs except in regard to the location and intensity of articular and muscular pain which tended to differ somewhat. After reviewing the absolute criteria needed for a diagnosis of Horton’s disease, emphasis is laid on the frequency, intensity and location of rheumatic symptoms in this type of arteritis. Finally, a discussion of the morbid relationship between Horton’s and Forestier’s diseases fails to settle the question of whether these are two different stages of development of a single disease or two distinctly separate diseases, one of which is malignant and the other benign.
