AbstractThe N reactor at Richland, Washington, is being converted from the production of fuel for the breeder program to the manufacture of weapons-grade plutonium. In consequence the United States faces a shortage of plutonium for its breeder program. The present paper sets a context for the proposed export of UK civil plutonium for use in the US breeder program.
