1.1-Methyl-5-ethynyl- and 1-methyl-3-ethynylpyrazole were prepared by methylation of 3(5)-ethynylpyrazole and characterized.2.The synthesis of 1-methyl-5-butadiynyl- and 1-methyl-3-butadiynylpyrazole has been achieved from their corresponding monoacetylenic derivatives, by condensation with 1-bromo-3-methylbutyne-l-ol-3, and splitting of the diacetylenic alcohols so obtained in presence of caustic potash.3.Contrary to current opinion, mixtures of both the possible isomers, rather than individual compounds, are obtained in the N-hydroxymethylation of unsymmetrically substituted pyrazoles.
