Previous issues of theHoward Journalhave contained articles on Group Counselling in penal institutions. On 2nd May 1962 the Prison Commissioners issued an instruction concerning its use and gradual extension. Since this is of considerable interest for the future development of the treatment of prisoners, permission has been obtained from the Commissioners to reprint below the instruction which has gone to all establishments. —E
