The purpose of this lesson is to familiarize the interpreting physician with the spectrum of mammographic axillary abnormalities, which will aid in the differential diagnosis and management of these abnormalities.Axillary abnormalities sometimes are detected on medialateral oblique mammographic images, presenting a diagnostic problem for the radiologist. The most commonly detected mammographic abnormality in the axilla is lymphadenopathy. Other less commonly seen abnormalities include epithelial cysts, abscesses, breast cancers, lipomas, and others.
