摘要:

AbstractUsing a central-force model, with experimentally determined force constants, the lattice vibrational spectrum of beryllium has been determined from a sampling of 2413 points in the first Brillouin zone. The specific heat derived from this spectrum agrees well with measured values. This vibrational spectrum has been used to compute the inelastic scattering of slow neutrons from beryllium in the incoherent approximation. Agreement with experiment is good in the region of high momentum transfer where this approximation applies. The coherent elastic scattering depends on the vibrational spectrum, and this has also been computed.
