A unique facility has been constructed for testing flight vehicle structures and electronic systems in the presence of high intensity sound. The siren sound source will produce pure tones or narrow bands of noise throughout the frequency range from 50 to 10 000 cps with controlled modulation from 0 to 50 cps. The maximum acoustic power output is 25 000 w to produce a sound pressure level of approximately 174 db in the 1 ft square progressive‐wave test section. This paper discusses the performance of the facility.
