AbstractIn this article a tutoring system is presented to act as a platform for research students to study data acquisition. In addition, it could be used to program and operate an existing hardware setup. The hardware consists of a number of sensors attached to a programmable data logger, and collected data are transferred to a PC via a pair of short‐haul modems. The tutor exhibits the flexibility required to meet different needs of research students in information technology and environment‐related studies.
