The method of fitting the electronegativity potential energy function to the experimental potential energy curves (R. K. R. V.-curves) has been employed to compute the dissociation energy of MgF. The result thus obtained has been compared with earlier results and the validity of the relation, for this molecule, has been discussed with special reference to rather marked peculiarity in a class of those molecules, one of whose constituent atoms has1SOas its ground state.
