&NA;Stimulant abuse has grown in popularity, particularly since the advent of crack cocaine. Another commonly abused drug is methamphetamine (MAP) hydrochloride. Known as crank, crystal, ice, crystal meth, and speed, MAP can be produced easily from ephedrine, and it is widely available. This article describes the pharmacology, cardiovascular effects, and toxicology of MAP, as well as the management principles of MAP abuse.
