Despite the evolution in behavioural healthcare that is taking place in the US, many of the issues associated with integrating behavioural healthcare into the realm of physical medicine have not yet been adequately addressed. However, delegates at the 5th Annual Disease Management Congress [Boston, Massachusetts, US; September 2000] heard the results of a successfully implemented depression and alcoholism screening programme at a large employer group in the US.
