Plasmapheresis is a new type of therapy that holds promise for the treatment of an array of critical disorders, ranging from poisonings to autoimmune diseases. Considered experimental until recently, the procedure's impact on critical care nursing is growing, as nurses become involved in the treatment and follow up care of plasmapheresis patients.
