Even advanced imaging modalities are generally not sensitive enough to detect early tumors—with the notable exception of mammography for breast cancer screening. For the most part, imaging studies are more valuable for tumor staging and treatment planning. The advantages of different techniques in different sites are discussed, with emphasis on CT capability.
