SUMMARYWalter Filmer returned to Australia in 1891, bringing with him various pieces of electrical apparatus including a Crookes tube and a 10‐inch coil. On receipt of the news of Roentgen's discovery, Filmer reassembled his apparatus and produced X‐ray pictures. The first medical examination with X rays was at the Newcastle Hospital.
