AbstractAppropriate emphasis must be given to education in technology and its management. There are many unfilled needs such as a train link between Boston-NewYork-Washington but we must avoid any more Chernobyls and Challengers. A major responsibility of the government is in engineering and it is to be hoped that the forthcoming US presidential campaign reflects this.
