The aim of this paper is to show a way to relate point mappings (defined by a recurrence relationship) and differential equations, and to establish the conditions upon which it is possible to undertake the study of the former by means of the methods already developed for the latter, especially the problems of stability analysis of a fixed point of the mapping. An example related to a non-linear sampled-data system is given at the end.
