摘要:
Polymerized inverse-macroemulsions based on acrylamide and the quaternary ammonium dimethylaminoethyl acrylate were studied and were found to be stable for periods exceeding three months. These low or ‘non’ settling inverse-emulsions were produced by blending small amounts of sorbitan fatty acid esters and polyethoxylated sorbitans with ABA-type block copolymeric surfactants based on similar constituents. Inverse-laticies were produced which had a majority of their particle size distribution below 200 nm, with individual means as low as 120 nm. The effect of the aqueous-to-organic phase, the comonomer composition, the synthesis temperature, and the temperature peak for semi-adiabatic syntheses were investigated to elucidate their respective roles in stabilization. The minimum level of surfactant required for stability, under various conditions, was also estimated. The relationship between the stability, particle diameter and transparency of the inverse-latex is discussed.
