AbstractUseful work would be a much better notion in economic analysis than employment; economic growth (of GNP) as an indication is even more problematic. More useful in assessing economic welfare would be a capital side to the national accounts, separation of costs from benefits, and a translation of aspects of welfare into concrete social objectives. Also needed is a clarification of the non-monetary economy.
