An attempt to lower the out-of-wedlock pregnancy rate in a community by the use of store-front, walk-in contraceptive service units has been initiated with evident local acceptance. Contraceptive materials as well as instruction in reproductive physiology are provided without charge. During the first 7 months of operation of 3 such units, there were 552 new clients and 875 return visits; 90% of the new clients and 98% of the returnees were males.
