The authors, after an eight year experience with the use of total hysterectomy only (either by the abdominal or vaginal route), believe there is no excuse for the subtotal hysterectomy in modern gynecologic surgery. They discuss indications for hysterectomy in the younger women, and have shown a low incidence of deaths and complications.
