In a year-long experiment on one hospital unit, the team nursing approach was refined: permanent team leaders were named and members were assigned to each team on a permanent basis. At various intervals throughout the project, team personnel were questioned regarding job satisfaction, and patients were questioned regarding their perception of the nursing care they received. The results of the experiment and the findings from both patients and nurses are presented.
