摘要:

This article presents recent findings from the interrelated fields of infant mental health and infant development to draw implications for work with at-risk populations. Infants are understood as being equipped from birth with capacities for social interaction and increasingly sophisticated levels of biobehavioral organization. Physiologic variables, including maturational rates and developmental disabilities, are conceptualized as being expressed in the context of caregiving relationships rather than in isolation.
