SummaryChlorpromazine treatments can occasionaly be complicated by obstructive- type jaundice. Liver biopsies show bile plugging of the thin intrahepatic canaliculi. Clinical and laboratory findings are comparable to those described in jaundices associated with methyltestosterone therapy and certain cases of jaundice after arsphenamine.The severe pruritus, the initial eosinophilia, a careful enquiry can lead to the diagnosis of an intoxication by chlorpromazine.The described case showed a severe hyperchromic anemia which took some weeks to be restored.
