Glyphosate 0.2 kg/ha gave complete control ofOrobanche crenatawhen applied six weeks after sowing toVicia fabagrowing in pots. There was no adverse effect on the growth or flowering of the crop. Spraying at four weeks after sowing or repeatedly was not advantageous. Five cultivars of beans responded similarly. Glyphosate also showed promise for the control ofO. aegyptiacain tobacco and tomato. Inoculating bean seed withRhizobiumdid not decrease the incidence ofOrobanche.
