Over the last few years, various approaches to treating HIV infection have been pitted against each other to determine whether drugs should be used alone, in combination or in sequential regimens. Finally, researchers are reaching a consensus that a combination approach gives the best results. Trial data supporting this view were presented at the 2nd International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection [Glasgow, UK; November 1994], along with a study that may be one of the last monotherapy trials to compare zidovudine with didanosine.
