A program was designed to measure interpersonal skills of a group of 26 Reach to Recovery volunteers. Thirteen of these volunteers took a 20 hour skills training program in human relations, problem solving and program development. The other thirteen volunteers had received only the traditional training which the American Cancer Society provides. The experimentally trained group had significantly higher scores in the three interpersonal skill areas in comparison to the traditionally trained volunteers. It appears that interpersonal skills can be taught to volunteers and can be measured reliably.
