A new ‘Solenhofen’ in Mexico

A new site has recently been discovered near Puebla, Mexico, at which fossils are found in a beautiful state of preservation in Cretaceous limestones. Most of the fossils are of new or little‐known fish, but there is also a wide variety of invertebrates. The fossils have been found in a platy limestone that splits easily along the bedding planes containing the fossils. This type of preservation is very similar to that found at the world‐famous fossil site at Solenhofen in Bavaria, Federal Republic of Germany, and may shed light on the community structure of this Cretaceous part of the geological col
