ObjectiveWe report the case of an 82-yr-old woman with a large complete longitudinal tracheal rupture, following endotracheal intubation. The patient was treated nonoperatively with excellent outcome. The diagnostic and therapeutic course as well as other therapeutic options are discussed. (Crit Care Med 1999; 27:661-663)
