AbstractThe Commonwealth Group of economic experts was set up at Kingston, Jamaica, in May 1975 by Commonwealth Heads of Government, under the chairmanship of Mr Alister McIntyre, Secretary-General of Caricom. The ten members were asked to make recommendations, in the context of the current international dialogue, on the economic relations between the rich and the poor countries.The Group's Interim Report, ‘Towards a New International Economic Order’, published in August 1975, was made available to the international community in the context of the Seventh Special Session of the UN General Assembly. Copies are available from the Commonwealth Secretariat.The Group's further report has now been sent to Commonwealth Governments.At the conclusion of the Group's meeting in London 19 February – 2 March 1976, the chairman, Mr Alister McIntyre, made the following statement on behalf of the Group.
